Expression of Interest Statement

Please explain why you would like to attend the 8th ISRV School of Respiratory Viruses and how participating would benefit your professional development.

Your statement should briefly cover:

Your current role, research or professional interests, and their relevance to respiratory viruses.
What you hope to learn or gain from attending the School.
How you intend to apply or share the knowledge and skills gained in your work, institution or wider community.
How attending would support your future career development.

Please ensure your statement is no longer than 500 words.

Letter of Support

Please upload a one-page A4 letter of support from your supervisor, line manager, senior colleague or another appropriate senior professional who is familiar with your work.

The letter should briefly:

Confirm your current role or stage of study and your institutional affiliation.
Explain why attending the School would be beneficial to your professional development.
Confirm their support for your participation in the School (10–14 May 2027).

The letter should be on institutional letterhead where possible and include the referee's name, position and contact details.

Please upload your letter as a PDF or Word document (maximum one A4 page).

Letter of support from a supervisor or senior colleague

As part of your Expression of Interest, you have the opportunity to submit an abstract relating to your research or professional work in respiratory viruses.

Abstract submission is optional and is not required to be considered for a place at the School. Applicants who choose not to submit an abstract will not be disadvantaged.

If you submit an abstract and are selected to attend the School, you will be invited to present your work during the poster sessions.

If you select that you would like to submit an abstract, you will receive a link to access the Abstract Submission Portal once you have successfully completed this Expression of Interest Application. Please look out for this email (check your Junk/Spam folder!) and ensure you complete all required fields within the Abstract Submission Portal.

ISRV is committed to making the School accessible to early-career professionals from a wide range of backgrounds and offers a limited number of scholarships to support participation.

Financial support may include assistance with registration fees, accommodation, travel costs and/or subsistence, depending on individual circumstances and available funding. Full and partial support may be awarded.

Applying for financial support will not disadvantage your application for a place at the School. All requests will be considered individually, and scholarship awards are subject to availability.

If you select that you would like to apply for financial support, you will receive a link to access the Scholarship Application form once you have successfully completed this Expression of Interest Application. Please look out for this email (check your Junk/Spam folder!) and ensure you complete all required fields within the Scholarship Application form.
